Ground-based separation provision service for U-space.
In order to scale the scope of operations in U-space, especially in urban environments, tactical conflicts are unavoidable. To maintain safety and ensure the required capacity, separation provision in the tactical phase is necessary. While self-separation is a viable solution, most entities participating in U-space are not expected to have the resources onboard to provide self-separation.
Following the concept of operations aligned with the requirements of the European ecosystem, this solution provides ground-based separation provision by enabling tactical conflict prediction (TCP) and tactical conflict resolution (TCR) in a multi-separator environment. The solution empowers operators in the airspace by providing situational awareness and instructions to maintain safe separation from other actors in the airspace.
The solution goes beyond current regulatory requirements for enabling a U-space airspace and provides input to standardisation needs to allow for harmonised operations managed by different U-space service providers (USSPs) in the same airspace.
The solution primarily delivers benefits in terms of safety and airspace capacity, while providing added advantages to airspace users by enabling them to safely conduct operations with full awareness of the surrounding airspace.
