As the skies become increasingly populated with Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), ensuring their safe integration alongside conventional aviation is paramount. This solution addresses this challenge by deploying U-space services within controlled and uncontrolled airspace.

This solution implements U-space services as defined by the IR (EU) 2021/664, IR (EU) 2021/665 and IR (EU) 2021/666. These services encompass mandatory network identification, geoawareness, UAS flight authorization and traffic information services and non-mandatory conformance monitoring service. The solution extends beyond the regulation services by including complementary essential U1 and U2 services. In the case of U-space volumes within controlled airspace, dynamic airspace reconfiguration (DAR) is considered in the process of being fully implemented. The implementation of these services is validated in several operational environments, in controlled and uncontrolled airspace in Spain, Italy and France.

Regarding regulation impact, this solution will provide feedback to current regulation EU 2021/664, identifying gaps and new regulation needs as detected in the implementation. This solution will also make up use of current standards, but it will also identify possible gaps in these standards and propose complementary and new standards needed for the implementation of initial U-space services through the developed implementations.

As benefits of the solution, it can be mentioned enhanced situational awareness for UAS operators, reduced collision risks through strategic deconfliction, network ID, traffic information and conformance monitoring and improved coordination between UAS and other airspace users, all of this by implementing U-space services and deploying them with the complete ecosystem required for U-space operations, from UAS and operators/pilots, to USSPs, CISPs, ATS and end users or authorised privileged authorities who will use these U-space services in a safe coexistence with the conventional aviation air traffic management system.
