Elevating trust and safety in ATM
Greater levels of connectivity and automation in air traffic management may result in a heightened risk of cyber threats. This necessitates a more unified approach towards devising future security solutions.
The Solution is a preliminary cyber security collaboration framework to provide an effective and long-term defence against attacks on the future communications, navigation and surveillance (CNS) environment. The framework defines the processes, responsibilities, and governance structures to effectively counter cybersecurity threats on a global scale.
The Solution also covers a zero-trust architectures framework, which emphasises strict access controls and continuous monitoring, could impact avionic regulations by promoting enhanced cybersecurity measures in ground and aviation systems. This might lead to updates in regulations to ensure that aviation systems adhere to the principles of zero trust.
International organisations like ICAO ICNSS Task Force and EUROCAE WG-72, may utilise the results of this solution.
BENEFITS
• Harmonisation of security standards,
• Elevated cybersecurity within the aeronautical environment through the zero trust concept,
• Influence on avionics and ground manufacturers/suppliers to integrate secure systems, thereby enhancing cybersecurity throughout the aeronautical sector.
