Virtual centre “Triangle” architecture enables resilient ATM service provision to a single air traffic service unit (ATSU).

The triangle architecture consists of an ATM platform in which specialised ADSPs provide services to the same ATSU. In this solution, three validation platforms will be deployed to assess the VC architecture concept.

  • The first platform, located in Spain, will involve two ADSPs specialised in the provision of time-based separation (TBS) services. These will be deployed to support resilient provision of TBS/RECAT data to the ENAIRE ATSU.

  • The second and third triangle platforms will consist of iTEC ADSPs deployed in Poznań and Vilnius, both integrated with PANSA and ON ATSUs. These platforms will support exercises demonstrating the operational feasibility of continuing ATM service provision within a FIR, even during contingency situations, by receiving the necessary information from the other ADSP. For the purpose of this contingency exercise, only basic ATC service information will be exchanged, i.e. flight plan data and OLDI (on-line data interchange) messages.

The triangle VC platform architecture has previously been validated in the PJ.32-W3-WP3 solution. The objective of this solution is to reach the maturity of an industrialised product.

Certification of the ADSP provider could be required to maintain current safety levels and to ensure interoperability across European countries.

BENEFITS

  • Improved cost-efficiency of ATM platforms

  • Increased resilience of services provided to ATSUs
